    So long sport trac

they came and took my beloved trac away last Thursday. 263,000 miles, including over 20,000 towing the RV, the truck was deemed a total. Book value was 2100, on it, insurance gave me 2700 bucks for it.. go figure. see...

    It's been a wild ride....

         Well, after 14 years and 263,000 miles, the Trac has met it's maker. My son's GF used my Trac as a can opener, it will most likely be totaled. It is fixable, but the Trac is tired. Frame is OK, alignment is off, inner fender is bent, rad...

    Cruise Control issue

The cruise on my 2002 trac hasn't worked in 6 months, so I finally broke down and bought a new switch, based on what I've read here. it was inexpensive, so what the heck. after install, nothing... grrrr. For giggles, a took the recall patch harness out of the circuit out and placed the original...

    O2 sensor access

I need to get to the wiring connector for the passenger side O2 sensor on my 2002 trac. Anyone have a system or ideas as to how to get to it short of pulling the cab off of the chassis (lol)??? I am thinking unbolting tailpipe from converter, and removing trans cross member and tilting...

    Coolant leak

Well, after 230,000, the cooling system gave up the ghost... The infamous lower t-stat housing started spewing. Kinda sucks, because the trac had the original factory coolant in it. (I replace the additive pkg every couple of years). I found a great narrative online to see what's involved, and...

    PSA- Control arm bolts

Just a quick PSA- (pubic service announcement) Last summer, I put in all-new front suspension on my 2002 trac. control arms, tie-rods, sway bar links, Rotors, and had it aligned... a few months ago, I noticed the front tire on the drivers side was leaning in at the top, wearing the tire...

Help needed o/t but ford- 1tech?

I have a 2007 Milan, and the wheel bearings are bad. They have to be pressed out, which means removing the knuckle from the car. the upper ball joints and tire rods came off easy, as well as the axles from the hub. The lower control arms, however, will NOT come loose. I had to buy a $230 OTC/...

    !#$@%&*@!-farkling squirrels!!

So here I am, driving home last night, doing about 60-ish, approaching downtown on the interstate. I slow down a little for traffic, then I let off the gas to slow down to 45-ish to change lanes. The Trac wouldn't slow down, so i looked to see if the speed control was on, it wasn't. I put on the...

    No Start Update

I've narrowed down my Fuel Pump no-start issue to the fuel pump relay socket under the hood. I could get the trac to start if I wiggled the relay, but after awhile it would not start even after wiggling.. The inertia switch wasn't it, although the connection did get a little hot at some point...

    dead again...

Well. went out to go to work, and the Trac would not fire again... A month or so ago, I wrote on this subject.. I thought the issue was the inertia switch... Today when it happened I pulled the wire harness going into the switch and pushed it back in, and it started right up... So, don't shoot...

    Had a scare this AM...

Drove to work this AM, an when I came to a stop, the trac was idling way rough... Put it in neutral and revved it up, still ran rough at idle... The light changed, so I took off and drove to the bank about 10 miles away. Pulled in and shut the engine off, went inside and did my business... Came...

O/T but ford.. FNR5 Milan Trans update

Picked up the car yesterday, and it shifts like a new car, even better than before. There was always a pronounced 3-2 downshift event, which is gone... They dropped the pan to inspect the contents, and replace the output speed sensor. My concerns were correct, as sensor was giving the TCM bad...

:supercool:Well, 10 yearas ago I took delivery of my 2002 Trac. I visited the parents up at a state park the next day, here is the picture: [Broken External Image]: Yesterday, 208,000 miles later, the wife and I took out our new kayaks, and visited my parents again, who happened to be...

    O/T, but ford- Trans

Greetings, can l1tech or anyone with ford tranny experience shed some light on this? I'm batting squirrel nuts on Ford pasenger car trannies.. I have a 2007 Mercury fusion (Milan) with the 5 speed FRN5 auto. This car has been nice for over 100,000 miles, but the trans is acting...
