    %$@#&*$#@ I can't win!

Not a switched wire or a cracked plug. Bad wire connections on #2 and #5...and I had the wrong plugs all together. Had autolites and swapped them for Motorcraft Platinum thin wire plugs. The wires I found were the victim of some piss poor manufacturing. I had to trim down the boots on the two...

    %$@#&*$#@ I can't win!

I was a little upset (and exhausted) last night when I posted...feel better now. I had a good night of sleep and I'm ready to tackle this thing. Thanks for the advice. Can anyone show me what wire goes where? The fact is I actually had help doing the wires while I was doin the plugs. I thought...

    %$@#&*$#@ I can't win!

I just got the rear axle rebuilt on my Trac yesterday and I enjoyed less than a day of peace with it! I spent today replacing my brakes...rotors and pads all the way around. Then I decided to change out my plugs and wires for the first time ever. I have 94,000 miles on the Trac and never had a...

    I hate Goodyear Tires!!!!!!!

I recently bought a new set of Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors...and I love them! For having such an agressive tread they sure are quiet and really helped me get around in this big snow storm with my 2 wheel drive Trac. The wranglers have definately improved the handling of my truck on dry...

    What to do???

I hear ya Jerry! I too hated being over the road! I drive for a fabrication/ Industrial service company (building and installing conveyors, pipe welding installation etc...) It's local, pays well, and I'm their ONLY truck driver! That's kinda why I was curious what your story was...you know as...

    Drop in MPG

I never thought about that! I went from 19mpg to 14.5mpg ...Thought it was caused by the fluctuating temperatures here in PA messing with my tire pressure. I'll have to look around for a BP I guess.

I apreciate you offering but I still have to decide what route I want to take with this(rebuild or junkyard). Sorry to hear about...

    What to do???

I've been running like this for quite some time Bill. For the last 30,000 miles, the noise was only when I was touched the gas (gradually getting louder over time). I changed the gear oil and friction modifier about 6-8,000 miles ago. Just yesterday it began making the same noise when I get off...

    What to do???

Thanks for the help guys...appreciate the links. Bill B. I hear ya. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but this is an area that I've never ventured. I don't know know what I'm looking at but I think you're talkin about the ring and pinion gears right? I also read that some bearing is to blame in...

    What to do???

Well I guess I can't let this go any longer. I've posted before in the past about the rear end in my 03 sport trac 4x2 (4:10 limited slip) making a ton of noise when I'm on the gas...Now it's screaming when I let off too!! I was looking online to find some salvage yard pricing for a previosly...

    Rough starts/ Rough idling

Thanks Todd for asking me those questions! As soon as you brought those terms to my attention I was able to look up the information I needed on cleaning them and will do so when i get the tools that I need. I will repost after I've completed the cleaning and allow the computer to reset. LOL...

    Rough starts/ Rough idling

Sorry Todd...I could've included a little more info. 84,000 miles regular oil changes 3-5k new air filter at last oil change (@2 weeks ago) plugs and wires good at last check (also last oil change) I don't know anything about cleaning the IAC or MAF...honestly I don't even know where...

    Rough starts/ Rough idling

I've owned my sport trac since new in 03 and have occasionally had instances where the engine wouldn't fire up imediately upon turning the key. It kind of reminded me of my old carberated vehicle days...car wanting to load up with the sweet smell of money leaving my tailpipes as soon as it did...

    rough idling focus

Thanks for the advice guys...I'll check that out as soon as I can get a few moments that the kid actually stays home for more than 2 minutes.

    rough idling focus

Everyone has been pretty helpful with my past posts...hopefully, some of you gearheads can help me with this one. I bought a 2001 Ford Focus for the step daughter and it ran great when we took it off the lot but has suddenly developed a really rough idle. I replaced the plugs...they appeared...

    rear end noise

Well,I just finished changing my gear oil (with additive). I was hoping to eliminate that whining noise from the rear but it doesn't seem to be working. I've explained on a previous post that the noise is only audible when I touch the gas pedal...no matter what the speed and how little I push...

    I don't know what I'm hearing??

Problem started prior to rotating the tires...in fact it's been progressively annoying for the last 20 - 30k miles. Guess I will start with the diff fluid. Any reccomendations there? Or is ther e just one standard oil we're supposed to use?
