Just talked to my dealer regarding the 07 ordered in Dec. She still has no info as to whether the Job 2 will have the power rear window. Has anybody heard any more about this? I have had both 01 and 03 and thought the rear window was a definite plus. I am currently not obligated to take the one ordered, and may not if the window will be available later. I currently have 93000 on my 03 and would have no problem keeping it longer if the window would be available. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks---Rod

We recently received the new '07 Brochure at my dealership, and even though it does not point out the rear window opening, it does look like every other ST out there. In some of the pics you can see the rubber on the back window that indicates it may open like they always have. I'll know more when the Auto show is in Philly in a few weeks.

I spoke with the Ford person at the L.A. Auto show and she said no opening window for the '07 ST. She said while it may be re-introduced in the '08 model that she hadn't heard or seen any thing from Ford officially saying that it would be.

That may be the reason that the box is 6 inches longer, and the overall length is only 5 inches longer that the current ST's. Might have to look at the sunroof for ventilation. Thanks for the input. Rod

I also noticed on the 07 on display at the LA Auto Show that it did not have the opening rear window. I had previously heard (from this site) that it would be re-introduced on the Job-2 version. I sure how that comes to pass. I told my wife I would not buy another ST if it does not have the rear window that opens. (Are you listening, FoMoCo?)

The opening rear window on my ST allows me to haul 12' long lumber pieces.

Comes in real handy while I am remodeling, and realize I need 1 or 2 more long pieces than I had delivered.......

I agree, it had a lot more benefits than just air flow. I hauled many things that I could not have gotten home if I couldn't have put it through the back. My only dilemna is that I am at the point that I would like to trade before 100K. A lot of my miles are driven in a contract position for GMAC, and I like pulling on to their lot in something that they can't compete with. I just tell them that I had the Ford before I had the GMAC contract....Rod

Ditto. I could not do without the rear window. That's one of the features that sold me on the Trac. Just shows how out of touch Ford is with the consumers.

How could Ford seriously take the rear window away:blink: What a bunch of god damn *******.........THAT rear window made the ST the ST.........I cant wait until the spring...

Oooh, that might be a deal breaker for me to upgrade from my '02 4x4 ST to the '07.

I have to have the sliding rear window. It's too handy for too many reasons.

Would an aftermarket power sliding window be an option?

It would not be as wide as the previous window, but you could get some ventalation and use the opening for carrying long items.

Face it... there is always goign to be something missing to drag the most buyers into it.

Some people will fall in love with the styling immediately, and purchase, then the ones that NEED the rear window later... either way, they will get your money in the end ;)

It still may make production with the rear window for Job 1 At least that was what I was told in Dallas. The model we viewed in Dallas was more like ..hey lets get this ready and on to Dallas. If it doesn't make Job 1, it will be on Job 2 for sure.

GM, I hope your info is correct. I still wonder if it could be retrofitted in the Job 1 at a later date. My dealer said that there is no info whatsoever regarding the rear window in her communications with Ford. Rod

The sliding rear window is what sold us on the 'Trac. With no slider in the back, it's just a 4-door Ranger with a smallish bed. My wife uses that back window constantly.
