20 Things You Should Never Buy Used

By USNews.com

.We all love scoring great deals on Craigslist and Ebay, but many second-hand purchases are actually terrible deals. Stay clear of these 20 used items that will end up costing you money -- or even endanger your health.

May want to add a slightly "experienced" XCAL3 to the list.

Half MSRP, same PCM code, 4 VIN unlocks remaining, stock tune files.

Never worked, total BS. Bottom line, you get what you pay for.

Buy new. (Torrie)

Steve,

If I remember correctly, you were trying to use the "Canned" tunes from SCT that came pre-programmed in the XCal 3, right? That's probably why you had problems initially. I don't think anyone here has ever used or reported success with the canned tunes. Pretty much everyone uses custom tunes, usually from Torrie.

I bought a used, unlocked X3 from a member of this site. Had a different PCM code than his Trac too. Got it pretty cheap, so I just bought three new tunes from Torrie, uploaded them to the X3, and have never had any problems with any of it.

When I eventually get rid of my Gen 1 ST for a Gen 2 ST, I plan to unlock the X3 and just buy a couple more tunes from Torrie for the Gen 2 V8 Trac.

Thanks Andy.

The MySt member that bought my XCal3 did exactly what you did, and called Torrie.

Must have worked perfectly, offered him a 30 day money back guarantee.

Took a $50 loss on it, but learned from my mistake.
