2007 Taurus Question

A friend has a 2007 taurus. His vehicle will not link up to the OBD-II scanner. He is coming up on smog testing and they plug into the OBD-II port.



Any idea what the issue could be? The vehicle runs perfect.



any common issues with this vehicle and this happening?

Fuse, F2.38 Data Link Connector. It also powers the horn relay though. Horn work?

check the cigarette lighter fuze also.. I run into this all the time when programming keys. No power from OBD,, 95% of the time it's a fuze.

See if the black wire that goes to the plug has continuity to ground.



It is not grounded in the normal manner and fails fairly often.



It is grounded via components that get their ground via the body. If no ground, you can ground it to the body but it may not solve it as the ECM is looking for the same ground.
