2010 XLT 4.0 Sport Trac muffler delete

My son deleted the muffler on his 2010 XLT 4.0 2wh drive with 60,000 miles. He wanted a deeper sound or tone verses Magna Flow installed last year. Are there any negative reasons/issues to a muffler delete which might surface? Please advise

In and around my area there is the potential of getting pulled over and fined. They don't enforce it very strictly but if the cop needs a win and it is loud enough (and sounds like crap) the chance is there.
