If it looks anything like the Bronco, then it will be a huge disappointment! Have you seen the Bronco up close? I get it. I'm an old fart who loves his ST 4.6 V8. I'll just keep fixing and updating mine. I still have complete strangers compliment it.I do think the ST is a kind of truck that time has forgotten. I can't remember the last time I saw one (other than mine) on the road in my AO.
On paper and in pictures, the Maverick looks good, especially at that price. But I wonder what it will look like standing next to it.
Yes -- I have 2010 STA and a ML350... wish the STA had the quality of the Benz, but with the style and attitude of the SportTrac. I love my STA, but it feels very cheap and was clearly designed by using only existing Ford parts.I know it's a pipedream, but I wish there were a car manufacturer left that overengineered everything so the cars were easy or easier to work on, and they were built to last.
Toyotas use to be that way, not that long ago, but over the last decade, they seem to have abandoned that virtue. Once upon a time, many decades ago, now Mercedes Benz used to be that way as well. The engineers and company took pride in the longevity and serviceability of their products.
In another 10 or 20 years, car mechanics will be computer engineers and electricians.

Reason why Sport Trac not mentioned is because it's a better vehicle. Probably would out sale the new bronco, should have named the bronco the new pinto by the way. Having all those trucks in their lineup something is going to drop off. Most likely the Ranger? Should have brought back the sport trac label and upgraded to current tech. Maybe even hybrid or even all electric. Sport Trac couldn't keep with a changing area small-medium-large. Don't think this was a good move on Ford's part. But I'm sure they have their hands full trying to find chips right now.

While it will definitely be more off-road capable than either the Maverick or the Sport Trac I'm sure y'all will still find lots to bitch about.
Anything without a full frame underside. Is good for only street. Plus as others said. I want torque without high rpm turbo, to get it.
As long as we have maintenance parts. Even the gen 1 Tracs will be tougher than the uni maverick.
I owned a Sport Trac for 12 years and 164k miles and the MSRP was over $34k back in 2007 so I do know what it's like to own one. I obviously liked it too or I would never have kept it for as long as I did. Unfortunately, Ford abandoned that market for years. I had hoped the "new" Ranger would be a decent replacement but when they gave us a ten year old design with a turbo four banger I said no thanks and bought my current F-150 instead. Once you get used to the size it's not all that bad and even with the Coyote V8, 4x4 and 3.73:1 axle ratios it still gets over 20 mpg with the cruise control set on 75 mph. I couldn't come close to that with my old V8 ST. However, if Ford builds a pickup version of the new Bronco I will be all in.Really?
You're on a Sport Trac forum. The Sport Trac was not a cheap vehicle when new. It is not a pickup truck. If I wanted a pickup truck there are lots to choose from out there. If I wanted something more offroad capable I'd get a Jeep. (Oh, that's right, I already have one!)
Not sure what part of this community's love-affair with the way the Sport Trac was designed as an SUV with a pickup bed you missed, despite being on here for 15 years.
Yeah, it's a tough crowd. We like our niche vehicle. The new tricks you refer to require accepting a vehicle that addresses a very different primary use or market price segment.
I want a vehicle that is comfortable for my 6'3" body to drive cross country for 12 hours in a day, an engine that will tow a decent load and climb hills at high altitude without dropping down to 2nd gear or winding up the turbo for hours at a time. I want a comfortable ride, not a pounding one. I want some creature comforts. I want better legroom in the back seat. I want back seats that fold down, not up. I want an electric rear window with a vent position. I want selectable 4WD and low range so I can explore that dirt back road when I want to.
And I'm willing to pay more than $25,000 for all of that if I buy a new vehicle.
In the mean time I'll continue to enjoy what I have that meets all of those requirements and take good care of it.
