I just wanted to say last week i went up to oklahoma for july 4th. Im from dallas and i went to broken bow, oklahoma which is about a 3 hour drive. The trac handled our boat very well, espescialy when putting the boat in the water and taking it out. The ramp i went down was very steep and i was impressed how it handled our 19 foot boat. Also i went a little off roading and i was again impressed. I did not get stuck once with the goodyears that i hate. But surprisingly the most impressive part of the whole thing was our drive home. Yesterday while we were drivng home, after we just crossed the border it started pouring down rain, and i mean the most i have ever see. I had my windshiled wipers on full speed and could still barely see. I drove in this for three hours and not once did the tires lose grip. Im not going to lie, i was scared because everytime it rains normally i slip in slide, but the goodyears handled amazing last night. I just wanted for once to say something positive about them, But....I'm still getting new tires this week, either BfGoodrich or Nittos.

The problem with the nittos is the smallest tire size is a 265 70 or 75 series in the 16 inch...

I want to get them soon, but don't know If I want a taller tire...

Glad to hear how well your ST handled the boat. Ours struggles just a bit at launches and steep grades, but that is because of the manual tranny. It just doesn't have a low enough gear to get it going on steep inclines. A strong smell of clutch was present the first couple of times we pulled it out of the water. :( Now that we've figured out how to handle it, we do OK. We still scope out the ramps very carfully before attempting anything. Pulling our boat is the only time that we wish we had an automatic tranny.

One thing that I find a little humorus is that if you stand behind the boat, on level ground...you can't even see my truck over the boat. I'll bet it looks like the boat is driving itself down the highway.

Here's a pic of our babies. This was last summer at Lake Mead, the day we pulled her off the show room floor.

Hey Paul. Nope, never did. As a matter of fact I got my fingers smashed in it the last time we had the boat out. I told the hubby that it was a good thing that those fingers were mostly numb anyway..it was my carpal tunnel hand.:D Now that it's hurt someone, maybe we'll get off of our lazy bums and get it done...but I won't hold my breath.

Wonder if GM ever got hers put on....

I have always said good things about the factory Goodyears. I have 86,000 miles on my 03 ST and the tires have just started showing wear. I think they should last another year or so. I will buy Goodyear when I replace them...they have been the best set of tires I have ever bought.

My shocks were wonderful too! I replaced them about a month ago, but they just started to give me a bad ride. She rode like a Cadillac up until then!

me and my family have a 3600 lb Crownline 20 footer and we were on our way to the ramp and had to go up the mountain and the ST handled well, plus the trailer brakes were shot and it didnt affect the STs brakes that much it didnt put too much overload. also the ramp was filthy with algae, but the Goodyear Wranglers never slipped.

Ok...I've decided that all of us that use our ST's to tow our boats should get together at a lake and do some boating. I'm not much for boating with groups, but since I've never met and ST owner that I didn't like, I think this group would be fun.

Of course I vote we meet at Lake Mead since it's only about 2 hours from where I live and, due to a lack of time off, I could actually show up. :D

With Lake Mead you'll want to wait until September or so. The weather is a little cooler, monsoon is over and at least some of the tourists have gone home.

So...anyone want to step up and volunteer to organize such a gathering? Guess it wouldn't just have to be for boaters. If you want to tow your camper out that would be fun too. I know our Miss FiFi has room for additional passengers.

I find it odd that in today’s glass half empty culture that I would find anyone praising a tire that we all have complained about and are scared to drive on. These Wrangler Tires shouldn’t be used hanging from a tree getting footballs thrown thru them. I have had my Trac for two months now and have already experienced three negative experiences with these tires. The Trac has 11K on it now, 6K at purchase, and the problems with these tires continue to make me question driving my vehicle on a daily basis……. Especially in the rain………. Thewse are the worst tires I have ever had sit under me... and I am one that in my youth drove a 72' Pinto with $23 recaps all around.

Everyday you see posts such as Nolemissy’s on the Swap & Sell and others that have wrecked and totaled their rigs due to these tires ineffectiveness. These tires are then coupled with the completely unsatisfactory oem shocks….. Ford should do / have done something about this long ago.

All I can say to pimpedoutst is that even a blind squirrel sometimes finds the nut.
