I searched the old post but could not seem to find, I know this is a common problem. What is the cure for the 3rd brake light leaking. I thought i read a post a while back just to unscrew the the screws and apply silicone and tighten, is this my only or best option? Thanks all.

Mine also leaked! Make sure after you put a bead of silicon along the edge of the light housing that you press down firmly on the light as you screw it back in place - don't rely on the screws drawing it down. Mine has not leaked since I used this process.

Good luck!

The two screws have a small (tiny) rubber o-ring.

I experienced the leak when I swapped out the light and destroyed the o-rings.

I put a small amount of silicon glue in the holes and let it dry before I reset the screws.

If I had to do it again, I'd reset the screws first, then put the glue over the holes.

I have had absolutely no problem since.

Some people have reported that fixing the gasket along the base fixed their problem, so consider that your leak may be due to some combination of the two.

I however, have had no problems with the original gasket.

Good luck!
