4 wheel drive lights

Any one know what it means if the 4 wheel drive, high and low, lights blink every 5 minutes or so while driving?? The 4 wheel drive is not engaging though!!

I have not heard of that yet. I have seen where on eo r the other light flashes. The dealer was able to pull a code. I would bet something has not passed the self diagnostic test.

Thought I'd ask....I also have a 2000 Explorer sport...just recently the 4 wheel drive light starting flashing every 5 minutes or so...on then off...but the 4 wheel drive is not engaged at all..any ideas??

I posted both..the problem is with my 2000 explorer sport...looks like the same 4wd system as my Sport Trac

Today when I started the vehicle, I experienced having BOTH 4WD HIGH and 4WD LOW indicator lights turned on. I did not engage the 4WD system. After a few miles, both indicator lights turned off. Any updates on what this means?
