While traveling on surfaces such as sand or rocks I have generally aired down my tires in other vehicles. I have tried this in the Gen 2 Sport Trac with complications. It seems as if the truck has a safety feature that does not allow it to switch into 4x4 Low when the tires are below their normal pressure. Is there a way to trick the TPMS that the tires are properly inflated so it will switch into 4x4 Low?

Thanks,

Keith S.

Have you tried turning off the traction control? Just a thought. Probably won't make any difference but it might be worth a try.

Ah, didn't realize you'd be driving on aired down tires longer than a short period on the sand/rocks. I'm not familiar with dealing with TPMS outside of the Tahoe which we never aired down and our Edge. Hopefully someone will have something helpful.
