Gary, that would be great and I'd appreciate it...problem with this one I found is they wanted 25k and I offered them 24k so it will be hard to go back for more...they did not accept anything yet so I can walk away at any time...

believe me, they are making a good profit. if i got just 18k at auction, i am sure the dealer sold it for at least 21k. probably more since it had everything and was in unbelievable mint condition.

Few dealers will settle for less than 3K profit on a used car. My wife worked at a dealer. They make money hand over fist on used cars. Add in to the mix that SUV's ad trucks are selling again since the gas prices have come down. Trucks are "still cool".

I tend to shy away from chain auto stores. That is just me. I actually prefer to avoid chain stores period. Sometimes you have no choice.

Find a dealer with one you like and check it out. Do not fall in love with the vehicle before you buy it. When you are in love you tend to do things you normally wouldn't do. A good example is getting married. ;)

Funny Tom!

Ya, I hear ya...I have a perfectly good running truck (01 Explorer Sport), it has a bunch if miles on it but it very solid as I have taken very good care of it and would probably last me for years to come...problem is I've had it for almost 10 years and I am itching for a new vehicle...I've been looking seriously for about a month...this truck in upstate NY is exactly what I want and the closest I've found that is a reasonable drive...I check bargain news, carmax, ebay, etc., etc. The deals seem to be down South but it is not reasonable to go there and check them out...I can find a bunch more V6 Limited's with all the options I want no problem but I want a V8 which is very limiting...I just have to be patient.

I worked at Carmax for 5+ years from 1996-2002. They have a very good reputation.

I would not hesitate buying a used car from them, but keep in mind they are a retail

operation. They have high standards for the cars they will offer to sell.

I prefer to buy new, if I can. When I worked there, we had the opportunity to buy their Wholesale cars, sometimes you could find a great car, they would not sell on their lot, but rather auction off themselves. They would have an aurction every two weeks and get rid of the cars that had too much paint work or frame damage, high miles, too old or recon cost were too much.

Sometimes new cars are gonna be a better deal with incentives and lower interest rates.

Take your time, you'll find the right one.

we picked up a job 2 09 xlt. dark copper/black gut. i wanted.....i mean my wife wanted the v-8 so we went looking for a 10. but the 10 xlt can no longer be had with the v8 and the limited was out of my price range.

it has the xlt appearence, back up system, class III towing, sun and sync package, rear window, tonneau cover, cage.

it was a pretty good deal, although ford does not have a lot for incentives on the 09 or 10.

going to pick it up in an hour

I would have sold you my '07 Limited 4X4 V8, dark cherry, tan leather, moonroof, power pedals, audiophyle 6-disc CD, roof rack crossbars, Class III/IV towing, Husky mud flaps, new BF Goodrich Long Trail T/As, nice condition in and out, 36,500 miles. $23,000 would take it home.

You mentioned "Towing" - If you want Class III/IV towing, make sure you have the correct hitch.

That's it!
