Car was in Shop for #30,000 in Dec....... 2 weeks ago had awful noise in Blower Fan Cage- had it all taken apart only to find acorns!!!!! - when I opened engine filter box it too was stuffed full - Now I know the critters around here did not stock them in there since that service in Dec........ because there was snow on ground and all of the critter storing is done earlier in Fall - Think dealer should have noticed them in Filter when they did #30,000??????? - Claremont Ford , Claremont , NH Sucks!!!

So I ask what is solution?????? - they tell me I have to cover over the cowling - around wipers each nite and take off when I drive - So what about the air filter box??? they have no answer except maybe stuff the intake full of steel wool.?????

I think the dealer did that. The critters, even though they are very busy animals, would never do something like that.

My fan is loud as hell. I suspect the same, since a mouse built a nest in the ducting of my old 1996 Explorer TWICE and TWICE clogged the system.

I'll report when I take it in for service. I have been very busy, and the weather very nice. Thus, I have not had the urge to service it yet. :)

Air Box problem - Wrap some window screen or galvanized screen over the inlet tube just behind the headlight and secure it with a large zip tie.

Accorns in my fan would

drive me NUTS !

Sorry, could not resist.

Seriously though. Chipmonks do prefer the Insulation on Ford wires more than any other vehicle manufacturer.

I have read that if you put moth balls in the areas the criters visit that they will stop visiting...

I have a K&N FIPK, so I no longer had the open inlet. However, I do not look forward to the claims that it caused the problem. I am hoping the purchased-at dealer isn't a fool.
