I have a clunk in the rear end of my 2001 Trac when I let off the gas. Will it help to remove the drive shaft and tighten the pinion nut 1/8 to 1/4 turn?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob, IT may be pinion slop, BUT it also may be the rear drive shaft slide yolk. IF that is dry it will clunk too.... I took my drive shaft out, opened the clamp removed it, re greased it and that clunk went away.

BUT the rear clunk Ford had to replace the rearend..... And it is clunking again !!!!!!!!

Remove the drive shaft, Open the clamp on the boot, and grease it...

You could use the needle pin on a grease gun and pierce the boot and grease that way also..
