Also one going around that is a phisher scam says it is from the FBI or CIA...they want you to click on the attachment and fill out a form, about your IP address showing up at unauthorized web sites....dont do it

YW Eddie. Glen, I don't know about a Windows thing, but these S.O.B.s should rot in hell for passing this crap around. Once a week I get my money's worth from my virus protection program. Actually, twice today!

Seattle, does it "hang" before it starts downloading the update or while it's checking for updates? that little bugger that I had was a real sweetheart. I finally got it removed then it still wouldn't let me access cirtain sites. (IE=Symantec, etc.) Could be you have a similar one. Look up my computer guru posts and in the last one "Oneniner" told me of a folder to look in and sure enough there it was, a file that had a list of all the sites to get updates on thet were getting blocked by the virus. Removed it and no problems after that.;)

ahh, I WISH I was still in grade school! Life was so much simpler back then! Unfortunately, no, I'm not. I use my macs for audio/video editing and animation. Chances are that they'll blow your peecee away too.

Macs blow all right... People who use computers to do WORK use PCs. Kids in grade school use Macs. :p

OK, anyone want to talk about which religion is the correct one?

Only reason why Mac's aren't widely affected by viruses is because virus writers don't bother with making them for Mac O/S since 95% of all computers in the world run Windows.

There isn't a single Mac in use at my company, but we do business with a graphics design company that does use them to create our graphics. Macs do valuable work in some areas, but for everyday number crunching and word processing, Mr. Gates operating system does own the computing world.

macs are too proprietary for my liking. I like to build my own, and choose each individual part that goes in it. Plus they are too dern expensive. All I know is, my pc does anything and everything I need it to do, and more. Never locks up, never crashes..... my father-in-law (a film professor) uses mac though for his video work.... to each his own...

I got three so far within 24 hours. The first one was a larger file. The other two were little.

I'm not just a mac zealot, I have some AMD systems too, I just despise winblowz. I prefer linux/unix.

If you have a PC that never locks up, you are the only person in history to every have such a thing! The "average" windows user experiences 5 crashes per week. I haven't had a crash in 4 years from any of my Macs. The fact that OS X is the most beautiful OS in the entire world should also count for something. If you would sit down in front of a mac, with os x for just a couple of hours, you'd NEVER want to see winblowz again. Windoze is ugly, clunky, buggy, difficult to repair WHEN you break it (not if, but WHEN) and good for word processing and games...that's about it. With os x, there's no registry to worry about/fix, everything is laid out in a very logical manner, it's visual appearance is quite stunning, 90% of the time things "just work" when you plug them in...you don't need a half dozen drivers like you do with windoze and it NEVER CRASHES...EVER! Usually the people you hear saying silly stuff like "macs are for grade schoolers" are the people who just choose to blindly bash macs because they're different, they haven't ever taken the time to sit down in front of one and see what they're really about. They go on these preconceived notions from what macs once were, not what they are now. I believe these are the same people who believe that all muslims are terrorists, and other silly, stereotypical things.

I run Windows XP. I have not had a crash in don't know how long.

The problem I have with Mac computers is the lack of software. Apple has a few followers, but the bulk of thier money is made from iTunes and iPods.

Windows XP Pro Laptop

Windows XP Pro Desktop

Both bootlegged (so called corporate version) and I have not had a crash since XP became available.

Mac does get its promps though, they are nice systems. Much more efficient use of processor power.
