I have a Cobra 75WXST Weatherband CB Radio mounted under my drivers seat of my ST.

I need to mount an antenna now. I don't want to use a magnetic one. Also, I don't want it sticking up any higher than the roof of my ST, at least not more than a couple of inches higher. So that means it can't be mounted on the top of the roof.

I assume then I would mount it right behind the cab or use a glass mount one?

1. What antenna should I use?

2. How do I mount the antenna?

3. How do I run the antenna wire for it?

Go to a truck stop or radio shack and get you one that mounts on the glass. Mine is on the pasenger side and sticks up about 5" above the cab. It works verry well and looks like a cell phone antenna.

I have a glass mount one...I ran the cable through the back piece of plastic on the rear on the headliner then ran it between the plastic molding on the sides of the headliner all the way down to the a-arm plastic trim and down to the CB radio. Looks clean, all the cable is "hidden".

I've got a magnetic mounted steel whip that I picked up at a truckstop on the roof, right above my 3rd brake light. The cable is ran through a notch in my 3rd brake light housing (sealed with silicone) to my CB in the glovebox. I have a garage with a 7 ft door, and a rather low ceiling, so the antanna does make a little racket sliding across the ceiling. But it is easy to unscrew off the magnetic base for carwashes and such. I had a black magnetic fiberglass whip there before, but I always knocked it off the roof, and I couldn't unscrew it, and it was just a general pain.

In these pictures, you can see the base of it.

i did the same thing as off trac for my scanner...however i found that i didnt get great reception. yes you can keep in mind that i am using high/low band frequencies instead of channels but the on glass antenna works better if surrounded by metal. my S/T has a tonneau cover and w.out the cover it worked better. i switched to a regular antenna mounted in my engine compartment and the reception is awesome. i know you said height is an issue so you can use the on glass antenna but look at you s/t and find a spot with metal around. make sure when you mount it on the glass its no shorter than a couple of inches from the edge os the window. good luck

Thanks for the replies. I went to RadioShack and bought a window mounted antenna. Will install it tomorrow hopefully.
