Any Info on PC Viruses?

I keep getting this virus on my computer and don't know what it is or how to get rid of it. I use Webroot Antivirus with AntiSpyware. This virus keeps popping up everytime my machine does a sweep. The virus name is



Mal/Fake AvJs-A

I found this info. Appears to be a fake virus warning to get you to download a specific anti virus program that you have to pay for.

I use avast and it knocked that sucker right out.

Google avast and/or avg both are free and work well.

Another option is Trend Micro's "housecall" antivirus. It is an online scanner that is free.

Everytime it pops up it trys to run a virus scan and I just cancel out of it and do my own with Webroot.

It might help it go away if you disable windows mesenger in services. Also in program files rename the mesenger folder to mesengerx.

Rose, one thing you might also do is after you do a virus check and get rid of it, turn off system restore. This will clear any files that the computer has backed up. After it erases the files turn it back on. Sometimes the virus is in this file and will find its way back onto the computer. I have had to do this too alot of computers I have had to fix._Ron
