If you have or havent'. What are your thoughts.

I bought a Roku XDS box. This looks very convient for transfer. My Modem in my office(unused bedroom). I want to put the Roku in my living room. I presently do not have a wireless modem. Just me and one computer. Havent needed a network.

Eddie,

I have a Roku XDS box and love it. I subscribe to Netflix and the movies come over my wireless network There are a lot of other FREE channels that can be installed on your Roku box that Roku does not list. Do a search on "Roku Channels" and you will find several sites that list channels that you can get for free...you just need to know the codes for that channel. I loaded about 10 more channels that show movies including old Drive-In "B" movies that you probably saw as a teenager at the Drive-In theaters. Also some channels have old Horror flix, Old Comedies, with the Marxs Bros., Abbot and Costello, etc.

I need to look up more channesl again. I added a lot of channels about a year ago, and I imagine there are even more.

If you want to go wireless, it will allow your to quickly move the Roku box anywhere in your house you want without having to have an Internet connection, and the quality is still great.

Rich,

I only have one main large (42") flat screen. That is why I was thinking hard wire.

The others dont matter that much.

7" on the work bench, 9" next to the computer and 19" in the bed room. The bedroom is an after thought. It is only on while folding and hanging clothes.

I might be emailing you if I have trouble with set-up...

I have never had cable even. So this is a new world for me.

The sale on the belkins ends 11pm our time.

Eddie,

I have 3 flat panel TV's...a large 55" in the living room, a 37" inch in the master bedroom, and a 26" in my office...which I can move to the guest bedroom, if anyone spends a few days at my house. I have only moved my Roku box to my bedroom once, when I was sick for a few days and did not want to drag myself out of bed to the living room to watch a movie.

I don't really need a wireless network, but things are so easy to connect to a wireless network, but I would probably never go without one again. It eliminates all the damned wires everywhere or wanting to use a wireless device anywhere in the house. With a home wireless network I can connect to the internet with my cell phone and don't get charged for Data. I also have a small netbook PC I keep on the counter top in the kitchen, but I often move it all around the house. Occassionally I will have someone visit me with their own laptop and they need to check their email, etc and I can quickly give them access to my home WiFi.

i have had the Roku box for some time.

Just tonight I taught it a new trick.

I rip DVDs for play out on my iPad when flying, so the iTunes library on my laptop always has a fresh supply of movies to watch. Our TV that has the Roku box connected has no DVD player... So I wondered how to stream the movies from my laptop to the Roku box (my box does not have the USB port).

The solution: chaneru... As in www.chaneru.com. It is a really lightweight server (single executable) that you run on your PC with your iTunes library, and a personal channel that you add to your Roku box. I set the whole thing up in like 5 minutes.

I highly recommend chaneru if you have the same need.
