I installed it, seems to have installed properly. Go to run it and it ells me I have a Direct X issue and it tells me how to make the adjustments as it may be the issue. However, the directions are for XP. For example, right click on the desktop and choose properties etc etc etc.

Well, in Vista, properties is not an issue. I need to get to the advanced settings of the display. I am not seeing it.

Any clues???

well my roommate who is a computer nerd...(he admits it!)...said call of duty 2 came out before vista so it may not be compatable...

I am wondering if there is a compatibility issue. If I was able to get to the "settings" of the direct x I may be able to see if that is the issue...

????

Open run box and type dxdiag does that display any info that you need? I'm not familiar with Call of Duty so I don't know what you are looking for..

use the files that are for the video card. also try a simple thing and just download the newest directx files. the newest drives for the video card are probably a good idea too

Running anything on vista sucks . . . .It is sooooo slow . .even with a Turion Dual core and 2 gig of ram . .blah downgrading soon

This ia a link to Activison and what they say about Vista. In the topic "Black screen or out of sync error at launch" it has another link about a 1/4 of the way down for the 1.3 patch. Make sure your running the latest patch for the game. I would also make sure you have the latest driver for your graphics card. Good Luck it sure is a fun game!

Good luck Coastie I have all but given up on gaming since my favorite game, America's Army, kept changing and now the new version download is like 3GB. I cant get it to download right and have been having withdrawals for a couple weeks not. Maybe this is a good time to give up on the gaming as I dont really have time for it anyway.

Did you upgrade to Vista? I have Vista on a new laptop and played CoD2 no problem. Went through the whole campaign and uninstalled it. Never had a problem. Maybe upgrading to Vista from XP introduces some issues.

Now, I can't play Enemy Territory. Punkbuster locks it up (you might want to make sure Punkbuster is disabled on CoD2). I love ET, so that bums me out. I've tried new drivers and everything. I finally nailed it down to Punkbuster, but I can't fix it.

Good luck!

Lex, I bought a new computer and it came with Vista.

I am so exhausted from the last two days I honestly can not even think straight right now. I am leaving for Orlando in the morning, I'll re-look into this when I land there for the night.

Thanks all...
