I'm trying to learn a little more about RV batteries and their little quirks. The background on what I'm trying to figure out is for extended car camping trips. I've been thinking about adding a second battery to run chargers and accessories while away from civilization and not have to worry about draining my starting battery. This is for my Jeep so I don't an external location (that I've found at least) for mounting it, so it would need to be inside.
I'm pretty sure that means I need a sealed battery.
Some of these RV sites seem to talk about needing special chargers, can I not just run an isolator and charge it off the alt when the vehicle is running?
AGM vs Gel Cell?
What is a realistic requirement for chargers, and maybe an electric blanket through a long cold night?
If I'm not mistaken the 12v blanket that I have draws .5 amps. So that would lead me to believe that I would need 4 amps of reserve power for an 8 hour nights sleep correct?
