The drunk driver could have already killed me before either of us make it to the check point. IME people busted for drunk driving are allowed to keep on doing it until they kill someone and even then I wouldn't bet that they'll be made to stop DWI. I'd like to say that the law should drop the hammer on anyone whom is caught DWI but with the "legal limit" being a number that can be adjusted to suit political need I can't support that either.

I don't like the idea of a checkpoint as it assumes that everyone is guilty until they prove their innocence.

KL,

Under your logic a mad bomber shouldn't be arrested because he could have already killed you. I fail to see the logic in this, am I missing something?

JohnnyO...whatcha riding?

I just came back from a week on Sanibel island, FL and put about 150 miles on my Seadoo.

2000 Polaris Virage that I bought new. Handles like a dream. Skat Trak impeller. Haven't even ridden it yet this year. Weather has been lousy plus I went back to school and don't have a lot of time. I live near Pittsburgh and after it rains you need about three days with no rain for the mud to settle in the rivers or you're running that sludge through your motor. I don't think we've had three days in a row with no rain yet this year.

as a firefighter/paramedic, I have to say I agree with the citation. If I am called out in the middle of the night for a river rescue, work in the dark for several hours, perhaps have one of my own crew get injured or drown looking for this guy, only to find out he was wasted in the first place, I can guarantee I am going to be pissed. JUST SAYIN!!
