Made my own truck tool box today for the back. Holds my toolbox and just a couple other extraneous items I have in the truck. Makes the bed about 3feet long now but I don't carry much long stuff, it is also easily removable, and the OEM tonneau fits underneath it. What do yall think?

Looks good.... I was going to ask the same thing...... IS it easier for you to access it from where you did and not the top ????

Just asking

I had the cover off so I could put it in. My OEM tonneau front locks are messed up and the key does not open them up anymore. Rather than pay to fix the locks and all that, there are grab handles to release it to remove it. This way I'll flip up the back part, open the door and slide the tools out. Seems like more work, which it probably is a little bit, but since the tonneau doesn't work 100% it was easier to have the door open from the side so I don't have to climb in and pull the grab handles to unlock it. I would have put it on the top, had my tonneau worked like it should. :banghead:. I won't use the tools all the time so having it from the side wont be too big of a deal.

Nice toolbox Kyle! :banana:I made one custom to fit under my cover also, but my locks work fine so I am able to open the rear (behind cab) cover and it looks really nice. Had the inclination to see if there was some interest from fellow members here who would be interested in such a thing, but never got it into the Sport Trac Board threads. Mine is compartmentalized for cleaners, detailing tools and even an area for my jack. May post it when I clean out my trunk/bed but it certainly comes in handy. :haveabeer:
