Rich: you got it, I normally troll the Brian Enos website for shooting but I'll give yours a shot (pun intended) When we finish up with this thread we can cruise over there.

Coastie: what do you do? I have a Sig 226 which is my "to hell and back gun" absolutely love it.

Ken: my first pistol was a HK USP .40 compact, nice little gun but the HK's seem to kick more than the others.

Anyone else shoot IDPA or IPSC?

Not really. Military spec is the same and those are widely publicized.

Our round Speer Hollow Point travels at 1487 Feet Per Second. The company (Speer) guaranties these numbers plus or minus 3% even after 5 year shelf life.

Initially, they were over 1500 FPS. Many ranges have a top speed limit of 1500 FPS. If your weapons shoots faster you may not shoot at their range.

Soooo, it was dropped to the 1487 FPS. If you add the 3% we were still below the 1500 FPS restriction. If you do the math you will find that what I just typed is not correct. But they say it is.... Basic math puts it above the 1500 mark. Maybe they found a way to figure it out differently than I... LOL

In Ohio you can not do any type of, lets just say "Above the shoulder" shotting at a public range. That is another issue we come across as it is part of our training. They are called failure drills. If you were to shoot someone center mass and they keep on coming, chances are they have a vest on. So we do 2 to the chest and the 1 to the "above the shoulder location". In most cases we will rent a range so no one is around and it just makes things easier.

Yeah, because, after all, you would never have to do that in a life or death situation.

PC run amok. So happy to live in the south.

Down here, you can make headshots on the range, but they ask you to sweep up all the brass if you are using the full auto rental guns. :)

Tim, I shot in one IPSC match a few months ago. Very much enjoyed it, but realized it would take a major commitment of time and effort to improve. Somewhere down the road I'll do it again.

Cool, just saw your reloading bench on G&B...mine looked as organized as that....once

Looks like another great site, I'll join up.

I shoot a small amount of action pistol but mostly high power rifle competition.

anyone go out to Cmap Perry for Nationals?

V ro! I went to Camp Perry in 1985! I was in 10th grade and shooting for the state of WY!! I placed like 1200, out of 3000 shooters! About half way, not bad! Shot the M-14!

I drove to Camp Perry for 18 years, 3 times a month. I know the place very well.....

Did you live in the area Glenn or come for the competition???

Just the competition! Haven't shot there since high school. Trying to remember....do the bullets still end up in the lake? I think that the EPA would be shutting them down if that was the case?

Nice bench.... I likey.

G&B is a pretty good board. Sometimes it's a bit slow as far as chatter, but it's much more personal than say gunboards.com or surplusrifle.com.

I do not own any reloading equipment, yet. I am in the process of obtaining enough $$$ for an M1 Garand from the CMP, then it's going to be either a .40S&W or .45ACP. After that, some basic reloading equipment may be in order. Probably a Rockchucker or similar with a hand primer.

Right now, all I have is milsurp stuff:

K31 in 7.5x55 Swiss

M44 in 7.62x54r

M59/66 in 7.62x39

Turk 38 in 8mm

8mm, 7,62x54r and 7.62x39 is too cheap to reload. The 7.5x55 is way too expensive to not reload for as fun as that rifle is.

On that note, if anyone has some older reloading equipment they are willing to part with, speak up as if the price is right, I could be interested.

Shoot Safely.
