well time to move the escape. 08 XLT 4x4 4cyl w/48K.

to be honest, i was never truly happy with the ride for only 48K on the odom.

it has been getting 18MPG and i feel it is a truly nice size small SUV and was great in the snow. my toy dealer is going to give me 13K for it. (he is calling it a sympathy buy, LOL. just a joke!).

we are making room for our new 2010 scion xb. there was never an emotional attachment to the vehicle so it will not be that difficult.

When my now ex was looking for a new vehicle, we test drove the Escape. It was too boxy and rode to harsh for us..

Bought her an Explorer...

Really, 18mpg damn better off getting an Explorer or ST. I was actually thinking about looking at Escapes for my wife because I thought they got great mileage but next...

I'll just keep looking for another ST if that's the case. Thanks for the heads up Gary.

:eek:nline::supercool:

This was in 08, the newer Escapes may ride better now as compared to then.

Was not looking at the vehicle with mileage concerns in mind, just comfort.

Jerry,

My parents just got a 2011 Escape. The vehicle rides very nice, but it has been too soon for city MPG, though the V6 lists MPG Highway at like 27 MPG or so.

Tom

I wasn't gonna get new, looking for something older. I'm kinda leaning towards another ST anyway because I like the verstility with the bad and passenger room. The Escape did seem kinda small inside for me to being 6'6" tall.

Gary,

The trade-in value in my area is $15,000 to $18,000 for an Escape Limited 4x4 V6.

Your dealer is screwing you!

Tom

So, how will the 2010 Scion XB function in the snow?

Just curious as you mention snow performance for the Escape.

Sadly, I'm not a big escape fan either.

18 mpg? Since you're on LI, I'm going to assume that "highway" miles don't exist (I saw your traffic thread, and I have bad memories of being on the LIE in snow), but that's pretty bad. I wonder what a 6-cylinder engine would have gotten?

tom,

thanks for the info. check my original post....

XLT / 4 cyl. @ 13K

LTMD's are the top end trim and note the V-6 standard.

so to wrap it up, no screwing here.

I bet he would allow you to fill in the difference for him.

tom,

i am fine with the buy price.

kl,

don't really need to worry about the snow, i have the 4run.

wifey has such a short commute, and from my fleet experience with the xB, they do OK in the snow.

hugh,

sure, tom or anyone can pay the diff.

You know, with so many Scion posts on here, I actually forgot about your 4runner.

BTW, is the Toyota PreRunner supposed to be a sort of "pun" on 4runner? Bored @ a red light and the thought came to me.

(4 = fore = before = pre)

Yeah, it's horrible but hey, boredom does strange things (and a 5 minute red light is VERY boring), and the Japanese seem to think that the most horrendous of "puns" are the best.

kl,

not sure, but they work for regardless of names

there is also an xrunner

Gary~ with studs all around, I had no problems getting around, in what little we had of snow, since I started driving the box to work.

And, where are those pics of your new xB?!

a lil' edit and see what happens :bwahaha:

oh yea, pics :smack:

That X runner looks like those "drift trucks" that I see people make, combined with a rip-off of the STA in the looks department.

Just looking at it, it failed in the looks department against the STA, and I'm sure it fails in the "drift truck" department likewise.

Maybe it's just an illusion, but whenever I see a lowered truck like that, I question its ability to haul anything of note.

On illusions, it looks like the Xrunner is across the line of its parking spot in the front, with a ton of room in the back of the spot.

Perfect for the teenage boy that wants a lowered truck but doesn't want to do any wrenching. As long as he doesn't mind how ugly it is. I'd also put a decent bet that a good portion of these have had the rear seat removed and replaced with 15" subwoofers.
