What makes you think that guns have to be registered in Texas?? They certainly do not have to be registered.



My point was that I don;t know why an assault with a knife or golf club is not considered as use of deadly force...perhaps is is because other objects have other purposes. Hitting someone in the chest, arms or legs with a baseball bat may cause pain and injury, but it is less likely to kill unless you hit somebody in the head. The gun has only one purpose and that is to kill.



Shooting someone with a gun assumes that you know the devistating wound and the higher likelyhood of causing death. The use of guns has always been considered "Deadly Force" while the use of other weapons or items that are capable of killing are not considered Deadly Force.



I think it is probably linked to the legal definition of Deadly Force as it relates to to law enforcement.

In MD, a pizza shop clerk was accosted, in the pizza shop, by some armed thug. The owner of the shop was also present, and as he had no gun, his only method of defense was to run out of the back room and beat the thug down with his pizza spatula



In Maryland, a 5 day waiting period has been enacted for the purchase of Pizza Spatulas....
