well, there is an ad in the paperselling the 6 disc changer, so i wanna be sure that it will hook up before i drive all the way to where he's located to buy it! i called my ford dealer and their all knowing techs had no clue if it would connect. i am hoping that someone on here either has done it or knows someone that has.

I have asked the same question, and received a postive answer from a few people. I have also bought a 6 CD unit and will try the replacement next week. I have a copy of the ST wiring diagrams and the plugs are the same. One connector is for power, lights and speaker outputs, the other connector runs back to the subs if present, I do not have subs on my ST. But the connector is present behind the single disk unit.

When we purchased my wifes Escape..she wanted the single disk with cassette..the dealer swaped out the 6 disc cd for it...they said it was all plug and play, no special wiring.

Still has the 300watts and subwoofer works also..dont know if that is the same with the Trac...butt it maybe...

mine came with a single cd/cassete- i purchased a six disc from ebay, and a subwoofer from a fellow member.fit in perfect. had to get a wiring harness for the sub but it all works.

I did the swap with no problem..

In fact, click on my wrench and you will see a project for adding the sub to the 6-pack radio once you do get it installed..
