Also, because gas stations are indepentantly owned the prices will not be the same from station to station. We can drive in a 30 mile radius and the gas price will not be the same from one AMPM station to another. And because of Calif. gas taxes the avg. price / gal. is $2.45.

Hi gas taxes too in WA. It allows them to build a section of a highway that takes years to complete. Funny how the best roads are near the capital, Olympia, while the rest of the states roads are not that great. But, they can't build a transit system.

Yes, based on spec pricing of oil. There is also the spot market that highly affects gasoline as well.

I was in Columbus, OH over the weekend. On the way there I saw prices as low as $1.89. Cheapest here in western PA is still $2.15 but our gas tax is higher than Ohio's.
