This makes it even worse, he manages a Ford dealership and can't get his own picture of a part?

Shoot, he could scan in the ST literature that his dealership has or at least had :(

Or, he could take a picture of the freaking bars that he allegedly has for sale.

Who would buy bars that are only pictured in an old picture, from a distance and angle that does not really show detail on the bars, even without knowing that it didn't depict his product?

The guy is a lazy moron AND a jerk :(

Hopefully they won't sell

I keep thinking: Where is the 2006 Sport Trac he says it will fit. He is obviously not knowledgeable about Sport Trac years.:smile0005:

Here's the response I received from him this morning:

Quote:

Why? The picture was found on a public site. Google. It's not hurting anyone. What's the problem? Send me proof of the picture being yours and I will remove it since it is such a problem. If you don't want pictures of your vehicle being used you shouldn't post them on public sites. Just for future reference.

Wow, to be the parts manager @ a Ford dealership that's a pretty a-holish response!

And the phone number in the Craigslist ads appears to be a cell number. So is he doing this under the table without his employer being aware?:smile0008:

...and the plot thickens

ALOT of those ads have the Jones Ford Logo though, so I doubt it.

How can there be brand new chrome nerf bars? I didn't know they came chromed, I thought they only came in rust-prone Grey, like the non matching cladding.

If so, then shouldn't he have pictures of what has to be a custom item?

KL,

The 2004-2005 Adrenalin package included chrome side step (nerf) bars and rims. That's why he lifted/used a picture of my 2004 Sport Trac Adrenalin.

Pics of your truck are just like homemade porn. If you put it on the web, it's gonna be seen and used by anyone.

I can't believe everyone is stressing over using a picture that was found on the internet for all to see. Now if you were in the picture it would be a different story. Get over it.

:smile0001:

My beef isn't so much that he's using my picture, but more that he was basically a total a$$ when I contacted him about it.

However, he is violating property and copyright laws by using a photo he likely got from Cardomain for either his own personal or his employer's financial gain.

TrainTrac,

Might your real beef be that this guy is potentially making money aided by an asset that you feel is yours?

I suspect that's your beef, or you wouldn't have contacted him. The issues later regarding his response, and the potential breaking of Cardomain.com copyright are secondary.

Am I right?

If I am right, you might have just asked the guy for a donation for the use of your image. He could have said no.

He does, essentially have a point. People post stuff on the Internet it either becomes public domain or the new intellectual property of the website to which it is posted; unless of course there are other contracts, watermarks, or disclaimers associated with the image in question.

Dupe removed...the darn animated icons are stealing the focus/pressing animation of the "REPLY" button.

Site admins, please fix!
