A recent news report on the Chinese state-run broadcaster showed footage of their Air Force running training exercises.

Or did it?

Looks like they borrowed some Hollywood footage...

Here's the full-length original Chinese TV story. And yes, I agree, the anchor is fairly hot:

I wonder if the people picked up on the lie. I bet their AF pilots did. Probably sworn to silence or death.

The apple doesn't fall far from North Korea, where it was once reported that Kim Jong Il shot an 18 the first time he played golf.

I wonder if the people picked up on the lie.

When the government censors everything it people can see, watch, listen to, or own, nobody is aware of this.

we are doooooomed, the end is near

Yeah, Chinese people have never seen Top Gun. It's not like a bootlegged version of the VHS tape then the DVD re-release wasn't illegally bootlegged in China, sold on the street there and in NYC, etc. Sorry for the sarcasm, but people like to portray China as more evil, more controlled than it actually is. There are those that always feel the need to villify those which they are challenged by.

Information will always be free. Just ask Egypt. Their biggest threat to their dictatorship was the ever-increasing availability of information about the West.

The same was true for Germany. Their wall went down. Curtains (iron and governmental) are falling all over the world.

My comment was not to be sarcastic. I was simply pointing out that China has a history of censorship to media. The government only allows its people to see what supports the governments agenda. I know there are some that get bootleg information, but the vast majority simply do not. They either cant afford it or simply fall for the scam.

Gary's comment simply shows how ignorant he truly is.

OB has been censoring from the start, of his runnnig. I wouldnt dought he has been erasing whitehouse tapes.

Btw, the average Chinese person considers images, film, and digital media (including software) to be a free commodity. The idea that they would be "stealing" this footage from Top Gun is rather foreign to them.

They essentially, on average, have the same attitude about fair use as your average American 13 year old that grabs a song or a movie off the Internet. They don't see the harm in it.
