I really knew nothing about this subject before I saw this video. I even had to look for another source to verify what this video discusses (see wikipedia citation). It is definitely food for thought.

Very intresting, about the root of some of certain parts of modern day Christmas came from. It iritates me to see the comercialism get so far out of hand. We realy have become a I want society and being backed up by those who the bottom dollar. I have nothing against gift giving. It is the distortion that erks me. Especialy when I want to profess my belief in Christ in some arena's,Iam shut out for being politcaly incorrect, even at this time of year. I suppose some of the pagan woship discussed in the video gives reason to those that dont believe in Christ to celebrate. There is still one truth. The evolution of the holiday is, Jesus is the reason for the season, believe or not..:D

AMEN Fast Eddie '04,that is why we have so much trouble with people like Islam(a peacful religion!!).Jesus is the reason for the season, believe or not..END OF DISCUSSION!!!

roy,

Perhaps you missed the thread linked below. As stated in that thread, there are more similarities than differences between the Christian and Muslim faiths. They are not pagans, and they do worship the same God we worship, just in a different way. In some ways they have stayed closer to the original faith, since they have not allowed the pagan holidays to become part of their faith.

Also, from their point of view it is we who threaten them. We bring our culture to their land, and we insist their governments adhere to Western standards. When they don't, we bomb the crap out of them.

One of al-Queda's prime goals was to get the Americans and their influence out of Saudi Arabia, which includes Mecca. They saw our culture corrupting the society there. Our literature, women's rights and numerous other western customs are considered profane by their standards.

I think both sides should just try to understand the other's position and practice tolerance towards each other.

That already happened. Read a book called Armed Madhouse by Greg Palast.

Bush is leading the charge. I like a tax cut as much as the next guy, but if I know the money is going to a good cause, I don't care.
