Mine also. But it always has in cooler weather, few 100 more rpm. Mine drops back to 1k rpm, in about the same time as warm weather. About 15 seconds. Within a minute 800 rpm.

mine starts when i carck it up goes up to 2,000 rpm. then settles down to 1,500 rpms.

I would check all hose to the canistors. Some of the hoses do not have clamps. You may need to cut the ends. They may not be sealing good. Might have some vacuum leaks.

In this cold weather mine cranks to 1800rpm. Drops imediatly to 1500. 1000 in 15seconds. Then within a minute to 800 to 850. I have my sct xcal3 set to 850 idle.

In warm weather my crank rpm is 1400 to 1500rpm.

If you have many miles on it. Might try replacing it.

only have 82,500 miles on her.

My moms' grand marquis @ 100K. Kept idling high. Even after 2 cleanings of the IAC and TB. Checked all hoses and connections.

I would drive it 22 miles to walmart. When I put it in park, the rpms were racing. I even pulled the neg batt cable. To let it relearn idle. It was short lived.

I finnaly replaced the IAC. Solved the problem. It was either sticking or the seat was worn.

You might consider replacing the IAC @ your 83K miles.

Have you checked the TB blade. See if some build up is holding it open.

Did you get the codes read.?

The P0457 is definetely an evap leak code. Now that along with your high idle condition would have me looking at the vapor management vlave that is located in the left front of the engine compartment. See if the vacuum line from the intake to the manifold is broken or if the valve itself is intact. A vacuum issue here could definetely be causing both of your issues.

First picis the valve, behind the green cap.

Second is where the tubing (middle rubber one) connects to the intake.
