Rear door won't open

I bought a used 05 Sport Trac. I love the darn thing, but the rear passenger door will not open from the inside or out. The lock knob is down inside the door and I cannot get it with pliers. Any suggestions?

Check if the "childproof door lock" levers are in the down position. (Page 79)

If levers are down you may need to remove the door panel to check the latch, actuator, and connectors for issues.

heat up a flat head screwdriver with a lighter or torch, Melt it into the top of the plastic knob to make a slot, Once cooled unscrew it a little to grab it and lift it up to un lock. IF you cant the rear handles were known to break. ALSO if the child lock is on and it was broken it may be all jammed. Removing the panel with the door closed sucks.
