My son has a 2003 Sport Trac XLT. It had the bag console. The lid, hinge and bag were gone when we got it. I have searched the internet for days trying to find an aftermarket console that will fit but they are all too wide. If any of you have had any luck with an aftermarket floor console in your Sport Trac, please advise. His 16th birthday is coming up this month and I would like to get him a new console to start his driving life. I have found the OEM parts on the web, but it would cost a fortune. Thank you all so much!

For some reason, the soft bag is expensive. Maybe search through car yards.

I just replaced the armrest and base (including hinge) for $165.00-ish. I suspect that replacing the entire center console would be much more.

If you replace the OEM armrest and base, transfer the U-Type Speed Nuts from the original to the new arm rest, if you have them. The replacements have a larger diameter hole and the screws spun in them with little torque.

When looking for used parts, keep in mind those consoles were used in 2001-03 Explorer Sports (2 door) as well. That's what the bag I have is from. In fact, if you use "Explorer Sport" instead of Sport Trac in your search, the Sport Trac parts will likely come up too. I even saw a bag console in an earlier 4 door Explorer in the parking lot at the salvage yard earlier this year. I thought it just hadn't been taken inside the yard, but it could have been a customer's since it never made it inside.

I have a gray console with black bag if your interested. swapped it out for the high rise console. It is posted in the for sale section (although the post is very old). Shoot me an offer if you are interested.

I had the same issue when I bought my Sport Trac. I bought an aftermarket bag off of Ebay. I went to a junkyard and pulled a couple of lids/hinge assemblies off of some mid-late 90s Explorers. The only difference was that they did not have the clip to tie the bag to. I was pleased to find that they did fit and were stronger internally than the original one.

Howdy, little late to this, but I'm looking for the hinge part or the hinge and armrest as a unit?

In Yardsale's link, I need both the item next to linked bag (2nd one) and the hinge that it would connect to? My hinge still works, but the plastic piece snapped off. Was that way when I bought it, have just gotten used to having a broken armrest.

For OEM, the bottom cover (long flat plastic part that breaks) comes only with the base (that attaches to the console) and the hinge, and the arm rest comes as a single piece (without the bottom cover). Typically, both the bottom cover and the two rear screw tabs of the arm rest break.

Check to see if the the screw tabs at the rear of the arm rest part are broken. These take the majority of the leverage and tend to break milliseconds after the bottom cover does.

Pretty much a full discussion on this:
