I just changed the oil and was adding windshield washer fluid when I noticed my coolant reservoir was empty. I checked the radiator and it was full. The temp gauge is reading normal. My trac is an 04 (turned 3 years old Oct 15th) and has 24000 miles on. The coolant looked green, however I thought I read my truck used Ford's gold. Can anyone tell me which I need? Any suggestions as to why the reservoir would loose coolant? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed

Yes your 04 used the Gold

If the temperatures are colder by you now, the level will drop...

With the truck cold check the level in the radiator under the cap. IT will more then likely be full, then just top off the reservoir with the correct gold.

The heat and cold can burn some off and cause the truck to loose some coolant.

I also like a zip tie on the overflow line at the rad cap to keep a tight seal.

Paul,

Thank you for your reply. With the truck cold the radiator is full under the cap. When hot there is a little in the reservoir. I will take your advice and top off the reservoir with gold coolant.

Thank you again.
