Cooling Fan Repalcement Tool?

Is it possible to remove the cooling fan without a special tool to lock it in place and put it back on on the 4.0 V6? Mine is showing several cracks around the hub where the blades come in contact. In a few places I've looked on the web it shows that you need a special tool to remove and replace it. Anybody replaced theirs or know if you have to have the special tool? Thanks gents.

It's possible. At 1:50 min mark for removal and 13:00 min mark for installation. You can also "rent" the tool at most auto parts stores. I would.

Are you referring to the "stress" cracks in the plastic fan? If so, it's common. It won't affect anything, unless it is truly cracking (coming/splitting apart). Then replace it. It could be dangerous if you were working under the hood with the engine running.
