Hello, I need some advice on how to remove the tonneau cover on my 2008 v-8 sportrac. Can 1 person do it or are 2 or more needed ? It looks extremely heavy. How does it come off ? Thanks for any advice out there đź‘Ť

If it's a factory one, do you have a key? It is heavy but doable for one individual. Easier with 2.

On the side of the cab (red circled handle) there is an emergency pull handle. The tailgate side each latch has a pull cord as well. If you have a key, driver side has a key slot and the rear center has a key slot, both are below the little cover for the key.

Gen 2 is different.

Best way, Make sure both sides are unlocked.
Open the tailgate, Fold the FRONT half by the cab to the back.
Clime on tailgate and step OVER the cover into the bed.
Release the 2 hinges.
Lightly lift the half cover and push the release lock on the BACK half.
LIFT the cover off by standing it up first, OR by cradeling it.
Rotate 90 degrees and sit it down in the bed on the middle hinge standing up leaning on one side of the bed.
Hop out and pick it up and walk away.

I need the lock assembly for this one shown here. Does anyone know a part number? Where best to order?

One other tip to remember is to make sure all four latches are unlocked before you close each section. I have had a couple of instances when I installed the cover w/o checking the latches and had a bear of a time trying to get the stuck latch unlocked once the cover was closed. The last time this happened I had to unlatch the spring loaded pins which allow each side of cover to open in order to release the stuck latch.
