I have a 04 ST and seems the roof has a bunch of small cracks in the paint. They have gotten worse over the past 2 years and am at the point where I should get it fixed. I was wondering if anyone had this issue ??

I wax it a few times a year, its garage kept, and its never left outside except while at work. I talked to a paint shop and they guy said FORD has a issue with their dark colors doing this after a few years. Not what I wanted to hear considering I plan to keep it for a few more years.

I have a silver '04. When I go too long between washes. Black mold grows in the roof recesses. When water traps and dries there naturaly. No paint flaking yet.

I dont know if it has anything to do with ford, but. GM had this problem in the '80s and '90s. A body shop freind told me it was the Enviromental friendly primers. EPA's doings.

My 2001 "Island Blue" ST had the same problem (I have since traded it in for a new 2010 ST). Although it did have small cracks in the paint - hood only, the vehicle still looked great even with 164,000 miles on the odometer. I was always concerned that the paint would begin to chip or flake off, but that never occurred. If my 2010 ST gives me the service that my 2001 did, I'll be a Ford fan forever.

For now, it is just the roof. and I hope it stays that way. Got one quote the other day to have it fixed.....$800 and change ( just for the roof)!!! What a pain!!
