Cross Bars Capacity?

Anyone know the weight capacity of the OEM elliptical cross bars? I'm thinking of addind a roof basket on top of them, but want to know what I could reallistically put in the basket.

I have hauled well over 200 lbs on those "flimsy eliptical OEM crossbars" on more then once.



I have no desire to waste my money on Yakima or Thule cross bars when the "flimsy eliptical OEM crossbars" work great.

I am sure you could tow a 5 ton trailer as well, but there will most likely be serious repercussions to doing so.

I have already done 4 ton. I have also loaded over a ton in the bed. It is not something I do everyday. If I were to do that every day, I would buy an F-250.
