Hey all,

Last Saturday went out to get the paper and the trac is gone. Hope it shows up parked and undamaged. Got a loaner car from insurance. Now when I'm driving, I am costantly looking for my trac. It is just sad, real sad. If it was taken out of state (Nebraska) and you see a 2004 gold ST Premium, give me a heads up. It has the EGR fender flairs (black) which you do not see often. This post to ya'll is an attempt to vent I guess. There is nowhere to turn.

That sucks......

I have never owned a car with out Lojack, or viper early warning.....

Hope is shows up un harmed...

Call the banks ( if you have a loan) and local towing yards, maybe some one towed it by mistake...

if i ever had a car stolen, i would hope they find it totaled or not find at all .. usually people that steal cars run the dog crap out of them.

so it was stolen out of your driveway??

Craig's list was the first thing I checked. Those EGR fender flairs are hard to come by. I will keep checking. Thanks to everyone for your input. It's such a helpless feeling.

TMac,

I'm also in Omaha. Do you have a picture of it to put in your library? I'll keep an eye out for ya. Brian

You did not happen to keep a spare key in it somewhere?

I would also like to know the answer to this. The PATS system should have kept them from "hot wiring" you truck.

I feel your pain. My 03 was stolen in March, what a hassle. Even with a fair settelment from the insurance, it still cost a lot in money and heartache to replace my ST. Even as i drive my 05 ST, I still look at all other white 03's with a suspicious eye. That is untill last Tuesday, when the local police called to tell me the ST had been found in Mexico. The insurance tells me I will never see it, they sell them in Mexico through a broker. Don't make the mistake of answering the question about a spare key, the members here are just waiting to tell you that the theft was your fault, you don't need that grief in addition to the problems caused by the loss of your vehicle.

Wish you luck.

When I worked in Downtown Detroit, Michigan, I've seen cars getting stolen on a regular basis. Its actually not hard to bypass PATS. PATS is supposed to prevent "joyriders". My aunts Ford 500 was stolen and recovered with much of it stripped. Yes it had PATS. The ignition didn't have the original cylinder. I've seen cars getting stolen using tow trucks with the "hooks" Just yank and drag.

But PATS can be bypassed. I've heard through the grape vine you can bypass pats 2 of these ways:

1) First remove the GEM fuse then turn the ignition to run, replace the fuse and you skipped the PATS process. I don't know if this process still works.

2)Use a NGS that you carry with you to clear the PATS system. Remove the cylinder and install a keyed cylinder. Program it and your stole the truck. Process takes 5-10 minutes depending on skill and knowledge. This is how my aunts was stolen. It is becoming more popular. Also the NGS is very expensive.

Their is a couple other ways, but I lost track. I think another one is running an accessory power wire to the coil thus bypassing PATS.

A distant friends ST was stolen and stripped with PATS. Actually the body shop listed it on eBay not to long ago.

I wish Ford would invest in an Onstar type system. Might be more incentive to buy Ford other than the Ford Family Pricing BS. I bought my Ford off a Chevy lot and the Onstar features were sure appealing. Instead i got a 1 year protection with some Sentinel tracking system in the glass.

Be interested to know if more Fords stolen then GM vehicles. My Ranger was broken into once, then had 2 attempts after the alarm was installed. Ive had my Trac 2 weeks and my first instinct is the top of the line 2 way alarm.

Onstar=Big Brother

No, thank you. On top of that, you only get Onstar for free for a short period of time and then you have to pay for it. To add insult to kinjury, early vehicles with Onstar that you paid to get are no longer supported by Onstar rendering your investment useless.

As for the key question, it is not to pint fingers. There have been a few Trac's stolen from members here and of all of them, a key (or keys) were left in the vehicle.
