Engine races on start up

I have an 2003 2x4 4.0L. When I startup the engine it guns it all the way to around 2500ish rpm's. Never had this happen before. Any thoughts?



Also, my Overdrive light doesn't come on when pushed. I haven't checked the bulb but when I do press the overdrive button there is no noticeable change in the drive like normal.



Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

IAC needs cleaned, also clean the EGR valve and the MAF. Mine did that a couple times last summer and I cleaned those, no problems since.

I agree with what Jerry said. Here's a link to the project. You might check to see if the EGR elbow is cracked.

I have noticed this lately too and assumed that would be the cure but I just did the cleanings this late summer. It really didn't do this until it started to get cold (below freezing).
