My st is making a rattle sound when it is sitting at idle. The sound is coming from the front or underneath the engine. Sounds like a rock clanging! If you rev the motor slightly, it goes away. Also, it has a rattle sound under a load between 2000 - 3000 rpm. If you give it gas or let off the gas it stops. It doesn't matter if the engine is cold or hot. I'm thinking it is the timing chain death rattle but I can't tell for sure. My truck is a 2001 4x4 and has 113,000 miles so anything is possible at this point. Any feedback about this is appreciated. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem.

Did you check to see if any of your catalytic covers are rattling????

Also try a thicker oil and see if it goes away...
