Just an FYI. Not really Sport Trac related per say, but on Thursday morning before daylight, my co worker couldn't put his hands on a flashlight to check the coolant level in the overflow reservoir of his Ford one ton duelly DIESEL pickup so he sparked a lighter over the opening and proceeded to ignite the vapours which blew his toque 10 feet back off his head and resulted in 2nd degree burns to his face and damage to both eyes especially the dominate right. He can see, but may still have damage to come.

The thing is we are both in the fuel business. Yes he should have known better than to use a lighter, but until now I never would have figured that mixed coolant and water in a 50/50 mix would make vapours that would ignite. Ethylene Glycol has a flash point of 111 degrees C but only when hot from what I understand, but mixed with water it should be lower.

Just goes to show you can't be too careful

I've actually seen cars burned up from coolant hitting an exhaust manifold and catching fire. If it's alcohol based it WILL catch fire if the conditions are right.
