Fading Step Bars

The end caps on my step bars have developed an annoying tendency to fade, a lot, and more than the rest of the step bars. Back To Black only works for a little while. I masked them off this morning and painted them with black Krylon Fusion paint, which is a tip I learned from the Jeepers regarding Jeep fender flares. So far they're now a little darker than the rest of the step bar, I'll hit them with Back To Black later and see how it matches up.

Yeah, I left the camera at my parents' house on Mother's Day. I just said F it and started masking and painting.

i remember on my 07 the same occured and what i thought was a premature issue at the time on a 2 year old vehicle.

did the quick fix of armorall/other type of application.

I used spray on bedliner for the bars, endcaps and step pads.. have not seen them in almost 2 years.. but after a year.. they didnt change color that I noticed..

I had the same problem with my 07. I picked up this stuff and it is amazing. It is a black dye.

What's funny is that only the end caps faded. The rest of the bar is fine.

Same with mine. When I applied the dye I went and did the hole step bar. I just used a rag and the dye and the step bars look like new. I was a little concerned that it would just come off because I live in Oregon and the rain seems to never stop. But it did not; they still look just like new after the winter.

I went to college in NC. I love that state. Had a lot of good times. After getting out of the Army my wife wanted to move to Oregon to be closer to her mom. We moved form Lawton, OK. To Salem Oregon. Not a fan of the rain and that is all it seems to do here.
