flasher location

My turn signal flasher is going very quickly when I move the signal to a left turn. It is normal when I make a right hand turn or turn on the hazard lights. The fuses are OK. I have bought the flasher unit, but cannot find where it goes. I have read several descriptions from between the e. brake pedal and the steering column to a black box behind the radio. (I have found a black box, but not how to get into the box if it is the correct location.) Any help and especially diagrams or photos would be greatly appreciated!!

Check for a burned-out bulb,either front or rear on the left side. That will cause the flasher to blink faster.
