Do Ford Escapes have the same locks that engage when you compress the brakes while driving. If so how do you go about turning that feature on?

What year? Our '08 Escape auto locks when you get up to 12mph. I would rather when it goes in gear or touch the brake. Cant change it. I think to enable or disable. You have to do it in the messenger center between the tach and speedo. It will be in the owners manual.

it's a 2003.

currently the locks do nothing. he checked the manual and saw nothing. he is hoping that he missed something... but i dunno..

If it is an XLS and not XLT, the '03 may not have that feature. If he has the keyless on the door. It maybe programed through there. Some of the early ford auto locks did it that way.

edit; Our '01 escape xlt did not auto lock. Feature wasnot available

My wife had a '06 Escape XLT and yes they did auto-lock. Never tried to turn the feature off or on though.
