NelsonOKC, I agree I am making some assumptions here. But if they are correct, then my comments stand. I personally do not want to see ANYONE hurt. And I don't mean genetic weeding literally. Why don't they sue the driver, who in turn could sue Firestone and Ford. The culprit appears to be the owner as far as the passengers are concerned. The owner may feel that the companies were negligent. I don't see where the passenger can bypass the driver and go directly to the companies. Doesn't the driver bear any responsibility in this case? If the driver was aware that the tires had a recall and he ignored it, then I feel the total responsibility is on the vehicle owner.

Everyone goes for Mr. Deep Pockets. We definitely need torte reform badly!

Tom, I was referring to SCrew'iffic. I couldn't remember his handle. I don't believe anything happened to him. He just moved on after he bought his F-150. He made a few posts about a year ago about people deserving to die if they did something stupid.

MikeC, I agree that laws need to be changed. Not only to protect the corporations, but to protect the victims. I have a friend who was fired from a Defense Contractor. He sued, and the case had some merit. The company made motions and requested continuances for over a year. Eventually, my friend ran out of money to pay the lawyer and he had to drop the case. It appears Ford is going to do the same thing to Ms Munos, since they plan to appeal.

Actually Screw'iffic was around a long time after he got his SuperCrew. He just got tired of people making fun of him because of some of his disabilities.

I never made assumptions...I capitolized IF so people would know that I felt that way IF IF IF IF I had known more about the case. People assume that I'm just a mean person I guess, because I think of stupidity as a disease; stupid people breed more stupid people. Bottom line; I hate lawyers.

"Ford spokeswoman Kathleen Vokes said the case would be appealed"

It's all a moot point. The money will NEVER be paid.

 Funny and true.

David - Often in a case like this, the award is paid into an escrow account pending appeals. I am a little surpirsed that this case wasn't in Alabama, home of the Jackpot Jury.

Regarding the issue of seat belt use - I have been in total loss auto business for over 20 years and I have never seen, or heard, reliable evidence of a belted passenger being ejected.

I agree with Zappa, seat belt laws are like helmet laws, repeal them and clean up the gene pool.

Jeff C--

I disagree about her being a dumba$$. She was smart enough to find a way to get $29 million richer than she used to be. That's a heck of a lot more than you or I can say...

:D
