Ford's planning to reveal their new Police Interceptor vehicle this morning. Go to the link below to see it live today at I believe 1030 CST.

Cant wait for the first one to hit salvage. I want the motor. Narrow enough for gen 1 trac. LOL

I bet the cost is high. The present crown vic is higher in cost already.

3.5 v-6 twin turbo echoboost with 365 hp....AWD with Roll Stability Control...pretty much what the Taurus SHO is...just a bit enhanced in areas. Watched the whole video, and its very impressive. Very impressive performance as well as safety features and green technology...power of a v-8, economy of a v-6. Interior is extremely functional. All Wheel Drive is a big plus...

Yeah! That's the way to go FMC! Come back strong in this segment and let them haul ALL those "M PALAS":fire: and "CHUGERS":toilet: back to the scrap yards. Here in Dallas there will be a lot of "abused" ex-police cars to choose from when they see this Ford PI on the streets!

The suv they are talking about would be the new re-designed Explorer...there are planning to produce the new platform with the 3.5, and are planning a police utility version.

It looks like they got inspiration for the looks and the promo pictures from old 80s movies.

In fact, it looks like an updated version of the Taurus from Robocop. I can hear all the classic one-liners now.

The chargers really need to go imo. No one likes the Impala, I know I didn't. If I were being arrested, I'd demand to be put in the CV, but maybe, just maybe, I could settle for this Taurus 2.0.

Hopefully Ford can come back and sweep the market with this. Makes me regret not buying their stock even more :(

BTW, why aren't police officers Civilians? IMO anyone who isn't in the military is a civilian. Dictionary agrees. Sorry mister President of the Americas, that was a faux pas.

I think it is a move in the wrong direction. RWD is the way. Not front wheel or all wheel. Rear wheel drive.

Tom

RWD is the holy grail of driving, but how many cops are sufficiently trained to use the performance it can give, have interest in learning it, and how often will they actually use it?

I answer none, almost none, and never.

Besides goin' fast (momma) I can't imagine them using the advantages of RWD, and AWD has that ability, slightly hampered, but it has the advantage of ease of use and being relatively immune to traction loss, and I've seen some cops get in sad ways with snow and rain in the CV :( :(

At least it isn't a charger, or worse, a Chevy product.

Even Robocop was only given a FWD Taurus ;)
