Front Diff

Went to Advanced Auto the other day to pick up some parts for my leaking front differential. Got the gear oil they advised (80-90w)and gave me a gasket that was for the rear diff. They said they are sometimes the same. Get the truck to the lift and there is actually a metal tag on there that says 75w-100 (I forget exactly now) and there is a silicone seal on there. I returned everything and have since delayed the project. So has anyone changed their gasket? What are the required materials? What problems did ya run into?

Thats a tough one to repair you will have trouble dropping the cover out in the front. Yes its a silicone seal.

Is it the cover seal or the pinion seal that is leaking?
