If it weren't for Democrats to keep the Republicans in line, we'd be a country of tyrannical self-serving conservatives. I'll let you fill in the descriptor for unchecked Democrats. :kiss_it:

Bud, the best thing is he is only a one termer....What a mess to clean up.

I wouldn't be so sure. A lot can happen in two years. Like a Republican party remaining in shambles and being pulled in all directions by teabaggers, religious zealots, people obsessed about every penny, and everybody's mother's brother claiming they know how to fix things.

people obsessed about every penny

I've yet to understand why that is a criticism from liberals...

I guess when its not your money, why worry about the actual costs?

Because the Republicans are just as guilty as the Democrats at making the deficit what it is. Now they're suddenly interested in fixing it? Not only are they pretending the deficit just suddenly appeared in the past two years, but they're over-obsessing about it. Nagging about it isn't going to make it better any faster. Instead of the House and Senate Republicans being obstructionists and the Zombies of No, they should do something productive to make things better.

Should a person in serious debt continue pretending like there is no problem and continue spending money he does not have, just to keep up appearances and not admit fault? Could he possibly be "over-obsessed" about fixing his mistakes when it deals with something so important?

Republicans are to blame, too. I never implied that they were not. My biggest problem with Bush was his spending.

Nagging about it isn't going to make it better any faster.

Neither is increasing spending. Neither is passing more entitlement programs. At least nagging doesn't cost anything.

The GOP is irrelevant right now. To blame them is ignoring the bad leadership in the Democratic Party, and the far left agenda that is outside of mainstream America's needs and wants. The democrats have the majority they need to pass legislation, even horrible legislation that most of the country does not want. The health care bill passed without any Republican support. Blaming Republicans for the poor performance of the current administration ignores the true reasons behind an ineffectual Congress and lame president.

So, I state the question again, why is it bad to count the pennies and know where its going and if its being used wisely? I'd like to hear an answer that doesn't mention parties.
