Gen 2 Sport Trac roof top rack

Looking for a Sport Trac generation 2 (2010 XLT) roof top rack. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Roof racks are not generally vehicle specific as the cross bars, the rack is up to you on how big or small you want. most crossbars are universal but the range in widths is where it matters most. once you get your crossbars on you can attach different items like the roof rack or bike or kayak etc. the baskets are way nice to put a spare tire on and after mounting mine there i had a bed again.

Im looking to mount spare tire on roof top basket. Any suggestions? BTW, mines a 2010 XLT on 33" with 3" lift.

Way cool, did you go suspension or body? need some pics as i would like to see it. not to many lifted tracs out there..i got a trailer mount from amazon and mounted with u bolts and cut off ends, i can look and and post it, i have a 33x12.50 x 20 mounted in basket and as you know a 33 will not go underneath and it traps so much crap under there if it would fit i would not do it. the basket really helps, i can climb on top of my basket with spare and does not even touch my roof.

I’d like to see how well these things stay in place during a crash! Nothing like killing the other driver or pedestrians in a crash! Just a thought since those tires weigh enough to possibly tear the rack loose from the roof! I probably worry too much!

Installed 3" front and 2" rear leveling kit and minimal trim to accommodate 33"x18" tire/wheel set-up. Went with Toyo ATlll tires. I forgot the BTF upper control arms.. This is actually my sons truck.

As far as a crash well really never looked at it like that but if it was lumber or rebar ya know the things on lumber racks that have no lip well those are spears but a big flat rubber thing flying well i guess, but leaving a truck on side of the road from not having a spare,,i have done some serious off roading and it has never came loose from hard impacts but you do have a point but at impact that would take to sheer off 3 bolts and a lip to deflect a forward lunge, i hope and think it would be good.

I installed one just to have it there in case I needed it on my 2007. Given my requirements were low. I installed the Harbor Freight rack -- it was $80 after a 20% off coupon. Serves its purpose

I’ve wondered the same thing. Even just mild off-road bumps with that weight on it. I probably worry too much as well!

I have wires from roof basket going in the cab through door on top, i used shrink wrap and flattened so it would lay flat, no leaks, tested with hose, does not interfere with door closure at all, have had no issues in four plus years, did not want any holes in truck, i have plugs for wires in cab so i unplug and take basket off twice a year to clean and wax and other lights go in wire harness. as far as tire coming off you would have a better chance of bumper coming off. and again i have had truck off ground 4 wheelin not by choice and my light bar rotated slightly but the impact it would take in my opinion for such a failure would be catastrophic and a tire or any part of vehicle would be the least of concern.

Hey RT, here are a couple pics that i took but i got to email and not smart enough to send from computer to phone and to old to learn a new phone, the wires go in channel and under dash and at bottom i have the 2 wires with plugs so a simple detach and off with rack and lights. i used a hand sprayer on jet after install and it does not leak, it is so hard to see wire unless ya zoom in on it. i have 4 different lights on the truck so the 4 plug box on the bottom is where it feeds, it is made for a jeep and mounted where the ash tray was, very clean looking.
